Decoding Your Tires

Many people are confused about how to read their tire size as one size certainly does not fit all. That is why we here at Gregoris Nissan in Valley Stream want to give you a quick lesson.

The code on the side of your tire usually starts with a "P" which indicates it is a passenger vehicle. The next number before the slash is the width of the tire listed in millimeters. After the slash, we see a number that represents an aspect ratio of the height to width of the tire. The "R" after this means it is a radial tire and the final two-digit number indicates the diameter of the tires in inches.
